This dream is about to become a reality as Saudi Arabia prepares to unveil its first-ever luxury train, fittingly named Dream of the Desert. Slated for launch in the third quarter of 2026, this opulent rail experience is set to redefine the way travellers explore the kingdom.

The Dream of the Desert is not just another train; it symbolises Saudi Arabia’s ambitious vision to boost tourism and showcase the country’s rich cultural heritage. Spearheaded by a collaboration between Arsenale Group, the Italian luxury hospitality giant behind iconic names like Soho House Roma and Orient Express La Dolce Vita, and Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR), this project represents a SAR 200 million (around S$71.4 million) investment into the future of travel.

Covering an impressive distance, the Dream of the Desert will take passengers on an unforgettable journey starting from the bustling capital city of Riyadh, traversing the Northern Railway network, and allowing guests to explore some of Saudi Arabia’s most breathtaking heritage and natural sites. This is not just a train ride; it is an immersive voyage through Saudi Arabia’s diverse terrains, from ancient deserts to vibrant cityscapes.

Luxury defines the onboard experience. The train will feature 14 carriages housing 34 luxurious suites, each reflecting traditional Saudi aesthetics blended with modern comfort. Rich fabrics, intricate patterns, and elegant furnishings inspired by the kingdom’s cultural heritage will adorn the interiors. With a limited capacity, the journey promises an intimate, personalised experience—far from the crowded corridors of typical train journeys.
